Nov 19, 2024

It is reported that the Bangladeshi government has introduced a new energy policy, under which renewable energy projects (including photovoltaic projects) can enjoy tax exemption support for 10 years. Renewable energy projects will be given 100% tax exemption in the first five years, 50% in the next three years, and 25% in the next two years. The new policy will take effect on July 1, 2025.

The notice mentioned that according to the Bangladesh private sector power generation policy, projects built in a "build-own-operate (BOO)" manner can enjoy tax exemption benefits.

These projects need to meet all the conditions of the power generation policy and operate in accordance with the policy guidelines. At present, the scale of clean power generation projects in Bangladesh is 1.38GW, of which photovoltaic projects are 1.08GW.
